Here is a list of some of the resources that I used throughout my cancer battle.

(*Note: some of these resources are specifically for the southwestern Pennsylvania area. They will be noted with a "**" at the beginning of their organization name listed).

 

 

• **Cancer Bridges: www.cancerbridges.org is a nonprofit organization based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, that provides free social, emotional, and clinical support to individuals and families impacted by cancer.
• Project Chemo Crochet: www.projectchemocrochet.com is a non-profit initiative that sends free, handmade blankets to cancer patients nationwide. Volunteers from around the world crochet or knit 9-inch squares, which are then assembled into blankets by a local team in Abington Township, PA, and shipped directly to patients fighting cancer.
• Cancer and Careers: www.cancerandcareers.org  is a national non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and educating people with cancer to thrive in their workplace. This program eliminates fear and uncertainty by providing expert advice, interactive tools, and educational events for patients, survivors, healthcare professionals, and employers.
• Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation: www.komen.org Is the world's largest breast cancer nonprofit organization, having invested more than $3.6 billion in research, community health outreach, advocacy, and patient programs across more than 60 countries. Founded in 1982 by Nancy Brinker in memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died of the disease at age 36, the foundation is credited with launching the global breast cancer movement and popularizing the pink ribbon as its universal symbol.
• National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF): www.nationalbreastcancer.org is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to providing help and inspiring hope for those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education, and patient support services.
• Hope Kits: Delivers comforting care packages filled with encouragement and tangible items directly to patients actively undergoing breast cancer therapy. https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/nbcf-programs/hope-kit/
• Knitted Knockers: www.knittedknockersusa.org are soft, handmade breast prosthetics provided completely free of charge to women who have undergone a mastectomy, lumpectomy, or radiation. Unlike traditional silicone prosthetics -- which can be heavy, hot, expensive, and sticky -- knitted knockers are lightweight, breathable, and designed to fit comfortably inside a regular bra. They are hand-crafted by dedicated volunteers using specifically approved, ultra-soft yarns to ensure they do not irritate sensitive skin.
• **PA Breast Cancer Coalition: www.pabreastcancer.org is a statewide, grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to supporting breast cancer survivors and thrivers, educating communities, and funding breast cancer research across Pennsylvania.
• Friends Like Me Care Packages: For Individuals in Pennsylvania who have received a breast cancer diagnosis within the last six months, as well as patients facing stage IV metastatic breast cancer. Each customized box contains resources, small gifts, cosmetics, and a reminder that you are not alone.
• The Turban Project: www.turbanproject.org is a volunteer-driven, faith-based ministry that provides free headwear to men, women, and children experiencing medical hair loss due to conditions like chemotherapy, alopecia, and surgery. Founded by Kathy Braidich in Newark, Ohio, the organization relies entirely on donations and a dedicated network of volunteers known as "Angels" to cut, sew, embellish, and ship headwear completely free of charge to patients worldwide.
